Hyaluronic acid

What is it?

Hyaluronic acid is a glycosaminoglycan (carbohydrate) distributed widely throughout human body.

Main Benefits:

Moisturizing, repairing.

More Information:

The average person has roughly 15 grams of hyaluronan in the body, one-third of which is turned over (i.e., degraded and synthesized) per day. It is present in connective, epithelial, and neural tissues. It plays lubricating role in joints and contributes to cartilage strength. Hyaluronic acid is a main component of skin’s extracellular matrix, and has a key role in tissue regeneration, inflammation response, and angiogenesis, which are phases of skin repair. It is FDA approved as a dermal filler for treating facial wrinkles. In topical skincare, hyaluronic acid is synonymous to “moisturizer” as it is capable of retaining 1000 times its own weight in water, thus keeping skin hydrated and plump. Hyaluronic acid is one of few cosmetic ingredients that were thoroughly studied and proven to have rejuvenating effect on human skin.
