Rooibos

What is it?

Rooibos, Aspalathus linearis (meaning “red bush”), is a broom-like shrub that grows in South Africa.

Main Benefits:

Anti-aging, anti-oxidant, photo-protective.

More Information:

The tea has been popular in Southern Africa for generations. It is rich in polyphenols and a rare source of the dietary dihydrochalcones, aspalathin and nothofagin. Rooibos exhibits potent antioxidant and antimutagenic activities in vitro, as well as immune-modulating and chemo-preventive activity. While scientific evidence of skin anti-aging benefits of rooibos is limited, there is plenty of studies showing health benefits of the tea, as well as antioxidant and free-radical scavenging (protective) activities of the rooibos flavonoids in vitro.
