What is it?
Calendula, Calendula officinalis, is a herbaceous plant with bright yellow flowers.

Calendula flowers have been used to treat various skin diseases, including rashes, burns, cuts and bruises, since ancient times. They contain triterpene glycosides and aglycones, carotenoids, and essential oils. Topical application of calendula products has been used to treat sore and cracked nipples during nursing. It was shown to improve acute wound healing with faster resolution of the inflammation phase. In topical applications, calendula extracts showed significant improvements in hydration and firmness of skin, collagen protective and anti-melanogenic activities.
