Camu Camu
What is it?
Camu Camu (Myrciaria dubia) is a small bushy riverside tree from the Amazon rainforest in Peru and Brazil that bears a red/purple cherry-like fruit.

Camu camu has an extraordinarily high vitamin C content (on the order of 2–3% of fresh weight), and phenolic compounds, in which vescalagin and castalagin are the main compounds. The extracts from camu camu were shown to have anti-cancer, anti-mutagenic, anti-hypertensive and anti-microbial effects.
